Life Styled Look 85 & 86: Show Your Stripes and Geometric Ease

Summer style is embodied in flowy plus size skirts and plus size maxi dresses.  When the maxi dress re-surged as a trend to tap, plus size style mavens rejoiced.  The trend that was popular in the nineties is flattering, uber comfortable and practical for any gal on the go.  This week’s “Lifestyled Look” features two outfits that scream summer with bold prints and fetching cuts.  First up, let’s discuss our Patricia Maxi.

This bold print is one that makes a statement no matter how you wear it.  With grey, magenta, white, and black geometric shapes, the skirt can be worn in a variety of ways.  You can also combine it with multiple colors to really make it POP.  The Patricia Maxi Skirt is a cut we’ve done more than once, here at SWAK, and is a fan favorite; you might know it as the California Maxi Skirt.  Versatility is really the key when it comes to this piece, which can be worn low waisted, empire style at the bust or even as a tube dress.  Patricia, seen here with our Pretty Flutter Top in white, is a skirt that will take you through the summer to fall and back again. The Emerson Maxi is also a stunner.  Emerson is similar to the cut of our Bonnie, a SWAK staple, but with a fabulous striped print.  Who said big girls can’t wear stripes?  We dare you!  These multi-color stripes are the perfect size (not too wide) to flatter and hug your curves.  We love the idea of breaking the rules and the fashion myths of days gone by that say plus size women can’t wear stripes.  We had quite the debate, on Facebook, last week about it in fact!  Throw the rule book out and pair this dress with a plus size denim jacket and some cork wedges for a glamorous summer look. Both of these looks can be worn for birthday parties, barbeques or walks in the warm summer evenings.  Think about transitioning these pieces to fall with riding boots and cable-knit sweaters.  Want to weigh in on the stripes conversation?  Find us on Facebook or take our poll!
